Khartoum- President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al Bashir has directed speeding up the legal procedures pertinent to Sawakin Island after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had declared his commitment on rehabilitation of Sawakin town.
Minister of Tourism and Wildlife Mohamed Abu-Zaid Mustafa has said the talks between Presidents Al Bashir and Erdogan have resulted in agreement of the government of Sudan to make Sawakin as tourism area through a Turkish grant for its rehabilitation.
Mustafa added in a press statement at Khartoum Airport yesterday that President Al Bashir also directed adoption of Sawakin antiquities map for the purpose of the rehabilitation process, pointing out that his ministry and the government of Red Sea State would take the necessary measures for completion of these steps, affirming that the year 2018 would witness start of implementation of the project.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has affirmed to Mustafa his personal commitment to promote tourism in Sudan inside and outside Turkey.
