Hassabo Reaffirms State’s Concern with Agricultural Sector

Khartoum- Vice-President Hassabo Mohamed Abdul Rahman has reaffirmed the state’s concern with the agricultural sector

for boosting the economy and food security in the country.
Addressing the conclusion of the activities of the National Agriculture Week, the Vice-President praised the idea of holding the National Agriculture Week and the accompanying exhibition, which has realized success through big participation by the states and pioneering institutions and companies operating in the agricultural field.
He explained that agriculture constitutes the mainstay of the government’s economic strategy by increasing production and exports to boost the trade balance besides realizing self-sufficiency, hailing the participation of national companies and businessmen and their entry into investment in agriculture contributing to combating poverty.
The Vice-President declared that that the Presidency would sponsor prizes for boosting agricultural production for the best farmers, states and private sector companies that realize high production.
The Minister of Agriculture and Forests, Dr. Abdel-Lateif Al –Ijaimi, on his part, affirmed that the National Agriculture Week has been very successful and come to fulfill the state’s instruction to make agriculture as driving force for economic growth and combating poverty in the country.
The Vice-President honored a number of institutions that have contributed to the week, including the Ministry of Social Security and Development and the Higher Academy for Strategic and Security Studies.
