Imminent Visit for EU Ambassador to Abyei

Khartoum – (smc) Abyei Oversight Joint Committee (AJOC) has revealed an imminent visit for the European Union (EU) ambassador in Sudan to Abyei area.
It is worth noting that a delegation from the US embassy in Khartoum and some of the US embassy staff members in Juba along with USAID visited the area last week in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
AJOC Chief, Eng. Hassan Ali Nimir stated to (SMC) that the visit of the US embassy and USAID delegation to Abyei area aimed at seeing on the ground the peaceful coexistence and the return of the citizens to their home villages, besides the provision of services.
He pointed out that the US delegation met with the local chieftains inside Abyei area north and south to listen to their demands and the services provided besides the stability and UNESFA role in achieving security in Abyei.
Nimir revealed a meeting which will take place tomorrow with the EU Ambassador in Khartoum to discuss the present security, services, and humanitarian conditions in Abyei area, affirming that Abyei dossier is progressing.
