Khartoum - The Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning has reaffirmed its keenness on formulating the strategic plan for poverty reduction as a development framework representing an economic growth program that would enhance sustainable economic and social development in the country.
This came when acting Planning Undersecretary Mekki Mohamed Abdul-Rahim addressed a workshop on discussion of the role of education in poverty reduction, held at Al Salam Rotana Hotel in Khartoum yesterday.
Abdel-Rahim explained that the workshop comes in the context of preparations for the comprehensive poverty reduction strategy, which started by family survey and concept papers on poverty issues, including papers on agriculture, decentralized system, good governance, social sector, private sector and the institutional arrangements.
He pointed out that the workshop aims at working out recommendation on educational policies to be included in the poverty reduction strategy.
Chairwoman of the technical committee for preparations of poverty reduction strategy Suad Abdul-Raziq, on her part, stressed the important role of national and international partners in the success of the education document.
The representative of the European Union, meanwhile, affirmed their support to the government’s plans and programs for boosting education.
