British Ambassador: Political Parties Indicator for Political Pluralism

Khartoum - The British Ambassador to Sudan, Michael Aaron, has considered existence of political parties as an indicator for political pluralism and the possibility of peaceful

transference of power.
Ambassador Aaron, speaking at the conclusion of a workshop on political parties titled “ the Political Parties in the 21st. Century” that lasted for three days and held in coordination between the British Embassy in Khartoum and Westminster Foundation for Democracy, said that political parties have a positive role.
 Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) is considered one of the most prominent organizations in Britain for supporting democracy in the world through working with the political parties and the organizations of the civil society.
The workshop has witnessed active participation by cadres of the Sudanese political parties, as it has tackled the importance of political parties and their positive role in the society besides the challenges facing them.
It also focused on the peace process, where it reviewed the experience of Ireland in realizing peace and stability.
The workshop has come as part of support of Britain to the peace process in Sudan.
