Khartoum -- A British Embassy in Khartoum team comprising Veteran and all time Sudanese football stars led by Abu Al-Sheik and Omar Al- Negai

have played a friendly match against Sudanese journalist team.
The all time Sudanese football team, sponsored by the UK Ambassador to Sudan, Michael Aaron emerged victories at the end of the game; however, the event was held within the context of recreational activities during evenings of the holy month of Ramadan.
"I have noticed a great passion for football I Sudan  ... football in Britain and Sudan is part of society and can help strengthen social relationships between the two peoples," Aaron remarked.
H.E Michael Aaron further wished all the best for Sudanese football clubs, namely Al-Merriekh and Al-Hilal, who are contesting in CAF Champions Group Stages competitions, and Al- Hilal Obeid, the Sudanese representative in CAF Confederation Cup.
Of note, the UK places a premium importance on football development in Sudan, evidenced in a joined work between the British Council and the Ministry of Youth and Sports in teaching young players football skills. The initiative, which started 2009 to provide football skills, has extended its activities to promote peaceful coexistence and renounce racism and hatred. The initiative has so far managed to reach out 300000 young men and women and provided training to as many as 1000 trainees in Sudan's states of Kassala, Darfur and Blue Nile.
