Khartoum - Italy will always be on the side of Sudan to provide direct support to Sudan and through the European Union (EU) to establish development projects that will stabilize the societies and the well-being of the people of Sudan, said Italian Ambassador to Khartoum Fabrizio Lobasso.
He said during his meeting yesterday with the Minister of the Presidency of the Republic Dr.. Fadul Abdallah Fadul said that the Sudan is achieving continuous development in the areas of comprehensive peace, stability and freedom, pointing to Sudan's ability to overcome all problems through dialogue, which he described as the key to solutions to all challenges, stressing the eternal relations between the two countries, pointing out that Sudan is one of the countries of great interest to Italy.
The Minister of Presidential Affairs, Dr. Fadul Abdullah Fadul, expressed the government's appreciation for Italy's great support for the Sudan in the fields of development, stability and community development.
He discussed with the Italian ambassador means of developing cooperation and bilateral relations between the two countries in all fields to achieve the common interests of both countries and peoples.
For his part, Commissioner-General for Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration,(DDR) Salah al-Tayeb Awad said that the meeting dealt with Italy's support to Sudan through its embassy and through the Italian Agency for Cooperation in relation to programs of stability and security of communities in the states of Blue Nile and eastern Sudan and Khartoum, especially targeting refugees from the south and war-affected areas .
He added that the minister of the presidency called for the signing of memorandums of understanding in the political and economic fields and called on the ambassador to encourage Italian companies to work in Sudan to benefit from the potential of Sudan and its economic resources.
