US List of Terrorism Sponsoring States Impedes Sudan Business Activities

Keeping Sudan on US list of countries sponsor terrorism is one of the top agenda topics in talks between Sudan and US diplomats, despite lifting of economic sanctions in 6th Oct 2017, the economic activity still suffers from the “keeping Sudan” on the list of terrorist countries, on last Tuesday the British capital city “London” hosted Sudanese British economic forum which affected by Sudan disloyal groups, according to the guardian newspaper that activists parliamentarians signed a warning letter to the foreign secretary “A group of MPs have signed a letter to the foreign secretary warning the government against pursuing investment in a country rife with corruption and where the president is wanted for human rights violations” this type of protest affect the future of Sudan economic movement.
Sudan State minister of foreign affairs said “it is a high time” for US to remove Sudan from the list of countries sponsor terrorism, nearly 25 years Sudan has been worrying about the impact of US decision in1993 to add Sudan to the list of countries sponsor terrorism which included Democratic People’s of Republic of Korea (North Korea), Iran and Syria.
London protest is an indication to the negative impact of naming country as a terrorist, the normalization of Sudan US ties deserve total remove of any obstacles stand on the way like Darfur Peace Law and terrorism act, those who opposed the idea of the forum they invested the status of Sudan as a terrorist country according to US law.
“U.S. law requires the Secretary of State to provide Congress, by April 30 of each year, a full and complete report on terrorism with regard to those countries and groups meeting criteria set forth in the legislation. This annual report is entitled Country Reports on Terrorism. Beginning with the report for 2004, it replaced the previously published Patterns of Global Terrorism”. According to US official reports that progress has been done by Sudan government in term of cooperating and combating terrorism U.S. says Sudan is "cooperative partner" on counterterrorism
On July 2017 “U.S. State Department praised Sudan for its counterterrorism cooperation with the American agencies and described the east African country as a "cooperative partner" despite its designation as a pariah state.
In June 2016 Washington for the first time publically praised Khartoum for its cooperation on counterterrorism. Also in September of last year, it acknowledged Sudan’s efforts in the global fight of the Islamic State group”.
Unjustifiable for US to keep Sudan on its list of countries sponsor terrorism, the previous reports praised and appreciated efforts exerted by the government of Sudan; the question that poses itself is what is remained to be achieved by Sudan government.
