Defence Ministry Honours Follow-up Committee of POWs Release

Khartoum - The Ministry of Defence has honored the follow-up committee that has overseen setting up the Sudanese captives who were released by the SPLM-N.


The committee was led by Ambassador Mohamed Saeed, Tariq Sayed, Brigadier Staff Eng. Daffalah Hamid, Gafar Banag, Major Mohamed Al Mustafa  and Allaa Aldi Ibrahim .
Present in the honoring ceremony was Professor Ibrahim Ghandour, the Minister of Foreign Affairs along with a number of Armed Forces Commanders, the police, the National Intelligence and Security Service, people’s defense and popular police.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs has saluted the Armed Forces for the effort it exerted throughout the past sixty years of preserving the security and safety of the country stressing that he is proud that Sudan has distinguished security service  , strong Armed Forces. He highlighted the institutional work which was accomplished between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defence as well the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) in the operation of setting free the captives
Ghandour praised the efforts exerted by the Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni in setting free the captives and the response by the SPLM to these efforts and its consent.
He affirmed that the President of the Republic has continuously followed up this file with the committee concerned with setting free the captives to which he responded by dropping the death sentences and granting them general amnesty.
