Khartoum (SUNA) – President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al Bashir returned to the country yesterday
after participating in the seventh session of Tana Forum in the Ethiopian city of Bahr Dar.
Al Bashir was received at Khartoum Airport by FVP, National Prime Minister,1st Lt. General Bakri Hassan Saleh and a number of ministers.
Foreign Affairs State Minister, Ambassador Abdullah Mohammed Idris said, in a press statement, that the Tana Forum is concerned with discussing the issues of peace and security in Africa and financing the implementation of the reform process in the African Union
Idris said that the President of the Republic met, during the visit, with the new Ethiopian Prime Minister, Abiy Ahmed, where they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and how to expand trade exchange between them and enhance security and stability in the region and the African continent in general. He said that the President of the Republic assured the Prime Minister of Ethiopia of Sudan's support for security and stability in Ethiopia, While the Ethiopian Prime Minister thanked the President of the Republic for the position of Sudan on issues of security and stability in Ethiopia, pointing out that the Ethiopian Premier accepted the invitation by Al Bashir to visit Sudan.
He said that the President of the Republic also in his residence with the former Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Hailemariam Desalegn, where they exchanged bilateral relations between the two countries and working to push them forward.
