Khartoum (Muawad – Najat) – Vice President of the Republic, Hassabo Mohammed Abdul Rahman affirmed that the Joint Borders Development Conference

in Gineina will be held on 24-25 April 2018.
He added that the conference which will be chaired by Presidents Al Bashir and Debby will discuss – among other things - three crucial issues, the first of which is the security (present and future), the second is the economy and trade, investment and the third is cultural, social and popular diplomacy.
He added, in an exclusive interview with Sudan Vision that the joint mechanism and the concerned professionals managed to agree on one paper to be discussed instead of presenting two papers (one from each side), describing this as an evidence of a strong political will and coincidence of visions between the two countries.

Joint Borders Development Conference:

Hassabo said that the joint borders development conference is a model of cooperation amid the neighbouring countries, adding that conference is a clear evidence of stability of security along the borders between the two sisterly countries. He affirmed that it could a model to be applies with other neighbouring countries e.g. Central African Republic, Ethiopia, and Egypt.
On the security axis Hassabo said that the conference will discuss boosting the role of the joint forces and the coordination between the security services to curb the intercontinental crimes, organized crime, terrorism, extremism and human trafficking.
On the economic and trade axis, the Vice Present said that trade relations between Sudan and Chad are improving, adding that the Sudan has availed a Dock in Port Sudan Harbour to enable Chad have an access to the Red Sea for loading and unloading Chadian goods. He affirmed the continuation of constructing the tarmac roads, railways linking the two countries which reached advanced stages and became close to opening. He pointed out to the establishment of a Free Zone Area in Gineina, expecting that the Joint Borders Development Conference will deliver great results for the benefit of the people of the two countries.

Firearms Collection Campaign

On the Firearms Collection Campaign, Vice President Hassabo affirmed that the campaign is a success according to the testimonies of international officials who visited Sudan in the recent few months, affirming that it contributed to a very great extent in achieving stability of Darfur in particular a matter that is reflect to the huge influx of voluntary return of the IDPs and refugees to their home villages after the considerable stability in the area. He added that the government is exerting all possible efforts to provide the necessary services to the returnees to enable them start their farming and shepherding.

Tribal Reconciliations Conferences

On the tribal reconciliation, Hassabo said that the moves of the presidency in this regard has delivered as the it managed to hold several reconciliation conferences among the tribes a matter that contributed in reducing the clashes to the minimum especially after the firearms collection, affirming that the phenomenon of clashes among the tribes is vanishing and will disappear in the near future after the formation of the appropriate local administrations.

Holdout Groups

Addressing the holdout groups, Hassabo said that the peace could be achieved through dialogue only and that the war will never bring peace, adding that the government will continue tirelessly its dialogue with the holdouts till peace is achieved in the whole country.

National Anti-drugs Campaign

Hassabo, who is leading the National anti-Drugs Campaign said that the drugs could be included in the intercontinental crimes considering it as a threat to stability, affirming that the government is very serious in addressing this issue.

Human trafficking and Terrorism

On human trafficking, Vice President Hassabo said that Sudan is considered a transit country for human trafficking and this necessitated exerting great efforts to curb this phenomenon, affirming that appreciation of the international community to Sudan’s role in this regard despite its broad borders which are difficult to be under full control.
He added that the human traffickers transport the victims from the neighbouring countries through Sudan to ship them to Europe, adding that the human trafficking should be addressed by the international community through providing the required technical support to enable the government curb it.
On the issue of terrorism, Vice President said that Sudanese are tolerant by nature and there are no one case registered against Sudanese nationals in terrorism actions.
