Ghandour Meets Chairperson of AU Commission

Khartoum (Agencies) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Prof. Ibrahim Ghandour has met in the context of his participation

in the works of the 61st extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers of IGAD, currently in session in Addis Ababa, with the Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, where he invited him to participate in the summit for launching the Economic Grouping of the Horn Africa, scheduled for next April in Khartoum.
Ghandour congratulated the Chairperson of the AU Commission on the signing of the agreement of the African Continental Free Trade Area during the latest African summit held in Kigali.
The Chairperson of the AU Commission, on his part, affirmed his participation in the summit for launching the Horn of Africa Economic Grouping, praising Sudan’s cooperation with the AU and its strong engagement in issues of the African continent.
Meanwhile, Prof. Ghandour met with his Ethiopian counterpart Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu.
The meeting tackled a number of issues of mutual concern including pressing ahead with the efforts for reaching peace in South Sudan in the context of the IGAD initiative for reactivation of the peace agreement there.
