Khartoum - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations on sexual violence in conflict areas, Pramila Patten, has emphasized the remarkable improvement in the security situation in Darfur, lauding the Sudanese government's Firearms collection campaign.
The International Official has pointed out, to her recent visit to displaced persons camps in El Fasher and Gineina during her recent visit to Sudan.
She said at a press conference at the United Nations Headquarters held on Friday, on the visits to Sudan and Iraq, Confirmed the establishment of security within IDP camps.
Concerning Sudan, the Special Representative said that it was the first visit of a UN official from her office to Sudan. The visit was a generous initiative of the Government of the Sudan, describing it as very important in strengthening cooperation relations with the Sudanese government.
