International Expert Calls on Sudan to Benefit from Its Unutilized Share in Nile Waters

Khartoum (SMC) – International Expert on water issues, Prof. Salman Mohammed Salman

has urged the Sudanese government to urgently move to conduct studies to benefit from the unutilized share in Nile water which amounts to 6.5 billion cubic meters.
Salman stated to (SMC) that the Egyptian political clowning tops the scientific and technical approaches when it comes to GERD issue, pointing out to the concession Sudan had provided in Nile Waters agreement of 1959 as it utilized not more than 12 billion cubic meters of  its share amounting to 18.5 billion cubic meters, while the surplus goes to Egypt since then.
On the outcome of the tripartite meeting in Addis Ababa, Prof, Salman said that it opened the door for the resumption of the negotiations over GERD according to the principles that preceded the recent disputes in the presence of Sudan and without the involving any foreign party.
