Khartoum --The Council of Ministers in a meeting chaired by First Vice-President of the Republic, Lt. Gen. Bakri Hassan Salih approved a plan on wheat production and productivity during 2016-2019 presented by Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Professor Ibrahim Al-Dikhairi.
The Cabinet's Official Spokesman, Dr Omer Mohammed Salih said the plan set to expand in wheat cultivation and decrease cost of production.
He added the plan also set to increase the wheat cultivated areas from 1,000,000 feddan to 1, 150,000 and the production set to increase from 1.5 million tons to 1.9 million tons in the year 2019, while area of 450,000 feddans are planned to be cultivated for producing 900,000 tons of wheat.
The Cabinet gave directive for placing more attention to localization of inputs of agricultural production as well as to scientific research centers.
