New Session of Talks on Renaissance Dam Starts in Addis Ababa

Khartoum - The meetings of the 18th session of the joint technical committee on the Renaissance Dam between Sudan, Ethiopia and Egypt started yesterday in the

Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa, in the presence of Ministers of Water Resources of the three countries.
Sudan’s delegation to the meeting is led by Minister of Water Resources Mutaz Musa, while Egyptian and Ethiopian Ministers of Water Resources Mohamed Abdel-Attai and Seleshi Bekele, respectively, lead their countries’ delegations.
The agenda of the session include discussion of the remarks of the three countries on the initial report prior to their submission to the consultant.
The meetings of the technical committee come to bring points of view closer together on the technical track prior to the meeting of ministers of foreign affairs and water resources and directors of intelligence services, scheduled for mid this month in Addis Ababa.
The spokesman of the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; blamed in an earlier statement Egypt of failure of the meeting which was held in Khartoum last April, saying that Egypt had introduced proposal on the 1959 agreement, of which Ethiopia was not a party.
