FM Undersecretary Receives Thailand Delegation

Khartoum - (SUNA) The Undersecretary at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs on Friday received the visiting Thai delegation led by the

Director General of African, south Asia and Middle East Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign affairs of the Thailand and discussed issues of mutual interest and coordination between the two ministries.
Ambassador Abdul-Ghani Al-Naiem the undersecretary expressed his appreciation for the steady progress in the bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly after Sudan opened an embassy in Bangkok.
The two sides have also commended the regularity of the meetings of the joint action committee and the succeed of the current round of meeting that reviewed and handled all issues agreed upon by the two sides with emphasis on the political, economic, social and cultural fields.
The two sides voiced their desire to increase the bilateral relations in the areas of trade, economic operation and increase of Thai investments in the Sudan, with the view to increase the trade exchange between the two sides.
The Undersecretary has meanwhile expressed Sudan's appreciation to the government of Thailand for the assistance it provided during the process to open the Sudan embassy in Bangkok which in turned facilitated the exchange of visits and in the organization of the economic forum in Thailand which focused on investment opportunities and investment climate in the Sudan.
It is to be noted that a number of memorandum of understanding have been signed on the sideline of the visit including a cooperation agreement between a number of establishments in Thailand and the Red Sea state and Khartoum state and the African international University on fisheries and promotion as well as projects related to productive families and youth employment programmes.
