Sudan Implements 50% of its Strategic Plan for Water Development

Khartoum - The Ministry of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity has said that it has implemented 50% of its strategic plan which extends till 2031.
Minister of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity Mutaz Musa said in his address to the 8th. World Water Forum in Brazil that Sudan has implemented 50% of its strategic water development plan by establishing big dams and other water harvesting projects.
The Minister pointed out in an interview to Sudan Radio that the cost of the plan for development of water sector exceeds seven billion dollars.
Musa reviewed the experience of Sudan in management of water for irrigation, electricity generations and its other civil uses.
He also reflected the experience of Sudan in cooperation with the neighboring and Nile Basin countries and its projects on water harvesting, management of underground water and the Zero-Thirsty program.
Musa met in the Brazilian capital with Brazilian Minister of the Presidency and discussed Sudan’s achievements in the spheres of irrigation and electricity as the two sides agreed on joint cooperation in these sectors.
