Sudan Participates in National Focal Points Meetings, Discusses Climate Change

Khartoum – Sudan, under the chairmanship of Dr. Omer Mustafa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, participated in the meetings of the National Focal Points to follow up the work of the current session 2017-2018 in the Regional Organization for the Conservation of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden Environment, in Saudi Arabia.
Mustafa said that the meeting discussed climate change, marine resources and the development of the work of the strategic management project of the commission, future plan and biodiversity, protected areas, pollution from marine sources and awareness of the activities of the Center for Mutual Aid for emergencies, calling on the countries of the region to take advantage of the funding mechanisms made available through funds to raise awareness of the preservation of the environment  of the Red Sea for the countries of the region, praising the efforts of the regional organization to preserve the environment of the Red Sea, pointing to the need to strengthen the work of the regional network for emergency planning and response to marine pollution situations, stressing the need to encourage the activities of the local communities in the conservation of the marine environment, calling for the need to review the institutional framework for sustainable development at the local and regional levels and the need to expand regional integration among costal countries as a qualification for strategic integration and joint resource management, stressing the need to encourage projects that maintain environmental protection of  marine pollution in order to preserve biodiversity.
