UNAMID S. Darfur Sector: Mission's Priorities are Issues of Security and Stability

Khartoum - The Head of South Darfur Sector of the UNAMID has affirmed that the priorities of the mission are the issues of security and stability

The UNAMID official was speaking during a joint meeting that brought together Governor of South Darfur State Engineer Adam Al Faki and members of his government and a number of UN agencies for setting up a joint committee to map out a plan for the coming phase on the issues of voluntary return, security and stability and social peace.
He pointed out that setting up the plan and coordinating efforts constitute an important element in building of peace and stability in Darfur's communities and assist in provision of services in the areas of voluntary return.
Director of Police in South Darfur State Maj. Gen. Ballah Mohamed Al Hussein, on his part, called for supporting police at the areas of voluntary return as well as absorbing the sons of the returnees in the community police to boost security at the villages of voluntary return.
Director of UNICEF Mr. Augustino, on his part, affirmed working together to develop South Darfur's plan, which was formulated in 2016 with the participation of the organizations, noting that the plan of the organization for 2018 is ready, especially in the fields of education, health and voluntary return.
Director of WFP, on his part, affirmed support to the plan in the fields of livelihood, voluntary return and education.
