Sudan Development Plans Consistance with the African Program to Develop Agricultural Sector and Realizing Food Security

A mission of the 12 executive Directors of the African Bank for Development had visited Sudan

in the period from Tuesday  11th-15th February 2018, in Corinthia Hotel Khartoum ,to stand on Sudan developmental needs and decisions taken related to finance .This visit also aims to inform with the socio-economic programs, beside Sudan efforts in realizing political stability. The mission held several meetings with the Government top officials, ministers of economic and serving sectors , private sector, development partners and the Diplomatic missions in Sudan. The meetings tacked Sudan developmental needs and to take decisions concern finance.  Sudan hopes that the mission   will assist in solving Sudan external debts and reflects the reality of Sudan and correct the negative image about Sudan as appeared in the Western media.
Ministers of Economic sectors explained in their meetings with the mission that Sudan' developmental plans are consisting with the African programs to develop the agricultural  sector and realizing food security for the African citizen and these plans are adapting with the African Bank strategy in feeding Africa and developing industry through linking it with roads and highways.
The ministers of economic sector reviewed the sectors policies and their achievements in this field according the five years program, beside the challenges and problems face these sectors and the expected future plans. They called for benefiting from experiences of the countries similar to Sudan. In addition to setting of visions to realize the required aims. The ministers agreed to concentrate on chosen sector to be financed by the ABD. They suggested Gm Arabic as one of these cash crops to add additional value to products for exporting in order to gain more revenues supporting the national economy.
Ministers of serving sector reviewed their plans and vision in their meeting with the ABD, pointed to that adopted free treatment for children less than five years, and also the surgical operations in emergencies hospitals, and Cancer diseases. Dr. Bahar Idris Abu Garda, Minister of Health , explained in the meeting of the serving sector with the ABD mission that his ministry provided US$ 30 million to health sector for health services in the war affected areas .Added that provided incentives for the Doctors who work in South Kordufan and Blue Nile areas .
 Majdi Hassan Yasin state Minister of Finance and economic planning pointed to the importance of benefiting from the ABD experiences  in capacity building of these sectors and according to its external relations in these fields .The minister said that they hope that the Bank will urges other bodies to cooperate with Sudan particularly after lifting of US economic sanctions in October 2017, beside activating the regional cooperation pointed to Sudan strategic situation and its role in combating the crossing crime and human trafficking.
It worth mentioning that the council of the executive directors of the ABD the main mechanism for taking decisions concern financing projects presented to the ABD .The delegate of this mission of the 12 executive directors represented US, Japan, Italy, Ethiopia, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Libya, Cameron. Gabon, Namibia, Algeria, Morocco. They visited Kenana Sugar company to stand on the experience of gardening  Project at Zadena company.
