Khartoum (SUNA) - The Ministry of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity organized here yesterday
celebrations marking the World Water Day under the theme of “Nature for Water,” in collaboration with UNEP, UNESCO and UNICEF, under the auspices of Minister of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity Mutaz Musa.
The program of the celebrations comprised a number of working papers, including a paper on “nature-based solutions to water challenges,” presented by Prof. Saad-Eddin Ibrahim, and another one on “enhancing and developing efficiency of water use,” by Prof. Sideg Eissa.
Other working papers discussed at the occasion include “nature and water” and “early-warning and warding off of disasters” presented by Dr. Salwa Mansour and Dr. Babikir Ibrahim Abersi respectively.
The event witnessed honoring of a number of scholars who have distinguished contributions to the field of water and its various uses besides an accompanying exhibition.
It is worth mentioning that the World Water Day is marked annually on March 22 to draw attention to the importance of potable water and its sustainable management.
