Sudan Signs Agreements with Turkish, US, Spanish Companies in Minerals

Khartoum – Sudan has signed several of MoU and Agreement with US, Spanish, and Turkish companies

in the field of minerals aiming at upgrading this sector.
Geological Research Public Corporation General Manager, Dr. Mohammed Abu Fatma revealed the signature of three agreements with a Turkish company using chrome and lithium minerals to improve the modern and heavy industries in Sudan; besides sign an agreement with a Spanish company to finance upgrading the laboratories and industrial areas in Port Sudan along with a smelter of iron and cooper.
The government also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the African Centre for Earth and Minerals and the University of Khartoum on Academic and Scientific affairs.
Abu Fatma stated to (Sudan Vision) that the American company, which is participating for the first time, expressed desire to explore gold, zinc and silver besides providing the technical services in mining industry.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) promised to publish its reports on minerals in Sudan in its international annual bulletin.
He affirmed the continuation of USGS in providing supports on information in the Arab/Nubian Shield.
He disclosed that they conducted bilateral discussion with more than 50 companies which desire to invest in Sudan and providing related services.
Abu Fatma affirmed that Sudan has progressed tremendously in upgrading the minerals sector to become one of the most important sectors in the Sudanese economy.
