WHO has lauded Sudan’s efforts in the fight against TB.
He pointed out the rate of TB cases has declined by 26% last year affirming that the treatment in Sudan reached 90%
Meanwhile, Rt Hon Nick Herbert CBE MP has arrived in Khartoum in his first visit to Sudan to participate in the workshop on Sudan’s role in the fight against TB in Africa next Friday.
Nick Herbert is the Conservative Member of Parliament for Arundel and South Downs. He was first elected in May 2005. He served as Shadow Minister for Police Reform, Shadow Secretary of State for Justice and Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs under David Cameron's leadership, drawing up the Conservative Party's environmental agenda and its radical reforms of policing and prisons. He then served as Minister of State for Policing and Criminal Justice in the Coalition Government, working in both the Home Office and Ministry of Justice. Since becoming an MP, Nick has worked closely with international development NGOs on the growing problem of tuberculosis, especially in developing countries. In 2006 Nick helped to form, and co-chairs, the All Party Parliamentary Group on Global TB, and in 2014 he launched the Global TB Caucus which he co-chairs with South Africa's Health Minister, initiating the Barcelona Declaration with a speech to the World Lung Conference.
