Prosecution Directs Filing Criminal Charges against Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi

Khartoum - The State Security Prosecution has directed filing of criminal charges against Imam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi, the Leader of National Umma Party, for dealing and

coordinating with rebel armed movements for overthrowing the government.
This came after the National Intelligence and Security Service filed a suit at the State Security Prosecution against Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi and others.
Head of the Prosecution Hon. Moutasim Abdallah directed filing of charges under Articles 21, 25, 26, 50, 51, 53, 63 and 66 of the Criminal Law and Articles 5and 6 of Terrorism Combating Act as Al Mahdi in his capacity as Chairman of the registered National Umma Party and the revolutionary front and the rebel armed movements had signed a constitutional declaration and issued a final communique declaring joint action and coordination to overthrow the government by force, besides inciting the citizens through the social media to rebel against the state and create chaos and instability.
