(IBT): The much anticipated mega-fight between International Boxing Federation (IBF) champion Anthony Joshua and Ukranian boxer Wladimir Klitschko
is most likely to take place on 10 December according to multiple reports.
Negotiations for the bumper £30m ($35.5m) fight between the unbeaten super heavyweight champion and the Ukranian were underway last week, with the Manchester Arena in Manchester the favoured location over the 02 Arena in London as concerts by Madness on 10 December and Fat Boy Slim on 17 December rendering 02 out of the reckoning.
That the fight between the duo is happening is due to former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury pulling out of his scheduled clash with Klitschko on 29 October claiming he was "medically unfit". Since then Fury has admitted to taking "lots of cocaine" and has vacated his World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Organisation (WBO) titles.
While the Joshua vs Klitschko date has not been confirmed as yet, Eddie Hearn's promotion company Matchroom Sport is set to announce it early next week. The fight, which will be one of the biggest events of the year, has got fans excited with former British champion David Haye coming out in support of his fellow countryman, claiming that Joshua will win the bout.
"Joshua has got him at a perfect time. Klitschko physically always looks the part and comes to the ring in shape but he is not the fighter he once was. And sometimes fighters are the last to realize it. I just hope he doesn't get too bashed up. Joshua at 26 is too fresh, too young, too enthusiastic. Klitschko is just too old", David Haye said, as quoted by The Independent.
As things stand the Anthony Joshua vs Wladimir Klitschko bout will take place on 10 December at the Manchester Arena in England if all things fall in place.
