More than 200 Sudanese diplomats are meeting in Khartoum for three-day taking part in the 7th conference of the Sudanese Ambassadors Abroad in the period 26th-28th
February 2018. The theme of the conference is “Economic diplomacy to enhance Peace and Development”. The idea of organizing such conferences dates back to early 1970s, and it is organized annually in Khartoum taking different themes according to the changes and the current internal situations.
Since 1990s several conferences are held in Khartoum on diplomatic, political and economic topics. The 7th conference chose this title for many reasons. Ambassador Abdul Ghani Al-Naiem, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained in a press conference held at the ministry on Thursday 22nd February shed light on the conference, its agenda , the participation of the Sudanese Ambassadors abroad and their role in Asia, Africa, Europe and the West in general .
Al-Naiem described the theme of the conference as important considering development is the key for solving most issues in Sudan, particularly the war affected areas in Darfur, and the two areas in Kordofan and the Blue Nile where Sudan is working in three dimensions of resuscitation, rehabilitation and development.
He assured that the 7th Conference of Sudanese Ambassadors that is hosted in Khartoum as an indication of the awareness of the Sudanese diplomacy towards the internal issues. He pointed to the timing of the conference in these complicated economic situations which will assist in finding solutions within the concerned bodies in the State. He noted to organizing of the conference simultaneously with the 30th FAO regional conference held in Khartoum from 19th-23rd February 2018, which assured the strategic importance of Sudan in the region and for the whole world, and it is also noted to the response of the world community with Sudan and the Initiative of the President of the Republic for Arab food security.
This 7th conference will be an opportunity to work for attracting more foreign investments to Sudan, and developing of external trade. Sudan is looking for the era after lifting of US economic sanctions since last October 2017, and the flow of the many visits of businessmen and many companies to discover investment opportunities in Sudan.
Sudanese Ambassadors during these three days of discussions will dig down on the roots of economic issues and to look for the best solutions with economic experts. In addition to the basic aspects and topics of the conference related to the Sudanese diplomatic missions abroad, the relation with the Sudanese communities all over the world. The Conference is an opportunity for the Sudanese Ambassadors to discuss their own issues frankly with the headquarters, the ministry of foreign affairs.
