Khartoum - UN high level delegation visiting Sudan these days covering 10 countries all over the world on what was being implemented as the Sustainable Development
As part of their programme in Sudan Perdo Conceicao UN head mission presented a very informative lecture yesterday at the National Council of Population and Development. He tackled the different aspects explaining that the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development represents a transformative set of commitments for ending poverty and protecting the planet.
He further added that the Role of the UN Development System is to support of these commitments is framed by the MAPS (Mainstreaming, Acceleration and Policy Support) common approach adopted by the UN Development Group.
He sent three messages including that they are here in Sudan to provide help and support through the United Nations Development Programme UNDP in using its great potentials,
Dr. Lamiaa Abdul Gaffar , Secretary General of the National Council of Population and Development told Sudan Vision that the UN delegation visit to Sudan will hold meetings with concerned bodies which aims to set up a theoretical framework for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) , according to national and developmental means , beside the sectarian plans and developmental plans at the states .
She added that the UN meetings include concerned bodies and ministries of health, education, labor and human development, parliamentarians, academicians, research centers which work to implement the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
Lamiaa described the UN mission visit to Sudan is the first UN high level visit discussing the development planning since 1980s. She added that the National Council for Population and Development as the national focal point to realize the Sustainable Development Goals which works to coordinate efforts to accelerate the SDGs goals for developmental plans and executing these goals at the different sectors levels and states .She indicated to important of the participation of the civil society the private sector and the academic and research centers.
She concluded by saying the UN Mission will hold meeting with some officials at different levels which includes Ministries of foreign Affairs and he International Cooperation.
