Khartoum - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has instructed importance of holding the first meeting of the higher council on strategic cooperation under the
chairmanship of the Presidents of Sudan and Turkey before the end of the year 2018, provided that the first meeting of the strategic planning council, headed by ministers of foreign affairs, would be held before the holy month of Ramadan.
President Erdogan praised when he received Minister of Foreign Affairs Prof. Ibrahim Ghandour at the presidential palace in Ankara the successes that were realized in the relations between the two countries during his recent visit to Sudan, especially agreements on a number of projects, stressing the importance of close following up and coordination for implementation of what has been agreed upon.
The Turkish President welcomed Prof. Ghandour, who conveyed to him greetings of President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al Bashir and discussed ways and means of boosting the bilateral relations between the two countries in all political, economic, cultural, scientific, military and security fields in the light of the historical successful visit by President Erdogan to Sudan last December.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs said in a statement to Sudan Vision that he presented a thorough briefing to President Erdogan on the economic developments in Sudan and the efforts being exerted for following up implementation of the joint agreements and the agricultural projects to boost the economic and strategic partnership between the two sisterly countries.
He affirmed that the meeting tackled the current regional and international developments as they underscored continuation of coordination and mutual support between the two countries in the regional and international forums.
The meeting by the Minister o Foreign Affairs with President Erdogan came in the context of his visit to Turkey to participate in the Second Ministerial Review Conference of African Union – Turkey Partnership at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu.
Meanwhile, Prof. Ghandour also met with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu and discussed ways and means of boosting further the relations between the two countries in all fields.
Ghandour affirmed Sudan's appreciation to the historical visit paid to Sudan by His Excellency President Erdogan, indicating that it constituted a quality shift in the relations between the two countries.
Cavusoglu expressed thanks to Ghandour for his participation in the conference, underscoring the importance of implementation of agreements and projects signed between the two countries.
He pointed to the importance of holding the meeting of the council of strategic planning under the chairmanship of the ministers of foreign affairs of the two countries as soon as possible.
Agreement has been reached to convene the first meeting in Ankara by the end of next April, prior to holding the meeting of the higher council on strategic cooperation, under the chairmanship of the presidents of the two countries.
