AU Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture Lauds Private Sector’s Efforts

Khartoum- The African Union Commissioner for Rural Economy and Agriculture Mrs. Rhoda Peace Tumusiime lauded the efforts and measures being taken by the Sudanese

Businessmen and Employers’ Federation, and the Union Chambers of Agriculture and Animal Production, in particular, for shifting from the traditional system of agricultural production to modern one.
She said in a meeting at the Federation premises yesterday, on the sideline of her visit to Khartoum to participate in the Third Africa – Arab Ministerial Conference on Agricultural Development and Food Security in Khartoum, that the relationship between the private sector and the government, which is – the later – related to policies, is to achieve comprehensive development, pointing out that Sudan is a country of potentials, land and natural resources.
Secretary General of Sudanese Businessmen and Employers’ Federation ( SBEF) Bakri Yousif Omer, for his part, called for enhancing cooperation in the field of agriculture and food security referring to the new mechanism “ PPP ” – Public Private Partnership- being established recently at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning for the first time between the government and the private sector which consists of eleven people for each sector, to enhance the relationship between the two sectors.
He briefed the commissioner that SBEF is a non governmental body “ NGO “ which established  in 1977 to care for the interest of businesses in all sectors of their commercial, industrial, agricultural, transport and small industries, and thus it is necessary to every employer in these sectors who exercises any commercial business activity to obtain its membership.
