Sudan Vision
Khartoum-Sudan Permanent Envoy to the United Nations Office in Geneva Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail has affirmed that the Press Code of Ethics, which was signed by editors-in-chief of newspapers, recently came in conformity with the bill of rights of the constitution.
Dr. Ismail, who presented a lecture on the role of press and governments in promoting human rights at the training session organized by the Arab section at the Human Rights Commission for senior Arab journalists in Geneva pointed that the importance of the Code of Ethics stems from boosting capacities of journalists and professional qualification besides considering professionalism and responsibility at the same time by the leaders of press and media work.
He described the code as historical in the fields of civil and political rights as it would guarantee the freedoms of press and expressions in Sudan.
It is noteworthy that the session witnessed interactive dialogue by the participants on the reality of Arab press and its role in boosting awareness on human rights issues in the Arab area.
