Khartoum (SMC) – Abyei Joint Oversight Committee (AJOC) revealed the postponement of the meeting called for by the AU in Addis Ababa
, due to not receiving a response from South Sudan.
Sudanese side co-chair in AJOC, Eng. Hassan Ali Nimir told (SMC) that the African Union called for the regular meeting to be held this February to discuss the mechanisms of implementing the agreement of 20th June 2011 and the obstacles facing it, but they were informed by the postponement of the meeting.
Nimir pointed out that the Sudanese side proposed to the AU representative that the meeting should be held mid February, adding that they did not receive a response in this regard from the other side.
He affirmed the stability of humanitarian situations in Abyei which is witnessing coexistence among all the components of the area.
