Confirmed Gold Reserve in Sudan Amounts to 533 Tons

Khartoum-The General Manager of the Public authority of Geological Researches Dr, Mohamed Abu Fatima has disclosed figures showing the amount of mineral reserves particularly gold
Abu Faitima has disclosed while addressing a forum on lifting the blockade from Sudan and its effects on mining activity in Sudan which was organized by the Sudanese Company for Mineral Resources at the sidelines of the company’s participation in Khartoum International Fair, that Sudan has produced during the period from the year 2008 up to now more than (500) tons of gold
He noted that Sudan’s confirmed reserve gold amounts to (533) tons of gold while the reserves under appraisal amounts to (1117) tons
Regarding the unconfirmed reserves and under study stands at huge figures noting that the area exploited for mining does not exceed 20% of Sudan’s area.
Abu Fatima has affirmed that the Ministry of Minerals is well prepared for the post-lifting of the blockade phase by preparing a new strategy for dealing with the incoming investments to this sector in the aftermath of lifting the economic blockade.
He said the strategy included several points like the strengths and the weaknesses and what is required to be availed for attracting foreign investments throughout the forthcoming period  which include enlisting the policies that need amendment and development along with resuming efforts in developing the traditional mining sector.
For his part The Manager of Policies administration at the Central Bank of Sudan Mohamed Osman has outlined that the returns of mining sector have exceeded 4 billion noting that the economic sanctions have very much affected investments through banning financial transfers.
