Khartoum – South Sudan opposition faction led by Dr. Riek Machar has affirmed that Khartoum succeeded in achieving what other countries
in the region failed to make, announcing revealing an initiative under the leadership of the government in Juba. The initiative aims at convincing the Sudanese opposition and holdouts to involve into direct talks with the Sudanese government. According to SPLM-IO spokesperson Manawa Peter, South Sudan government will invite the Sudanese opposition leaders to meet in Juba; to discuss the possibility of entering into direct negotiations with the Sudanese government.
Peter added that they in the SPLM-IO will start their contacts with the Sudanese political opposition leaders and invite them to Juba to convince them to sit with the Sudanese government in a direct dialogue considering that the national dialogue outcomes agreed on accommodating all the Sudanese political forces in the national unity government.
He affirmed that achieving peace in South Sudan will achieve an economic leap for the two countries besides contributing to the implementation of the already signed protocols.
