Presidency Supports Campaign for Combating Desertification

Khartoum- Presidential Aide Dr. Faisal Hassan Ibrahim has pledged support to the work of the National Center for Combating Desertification, calling for exerting more efforts

for preserving the soil and development of communities.
Dr. Faisal was addressing here yesterday celebrations marking the World Day to Combat Desertification, organized by the National Council for Combating Desertification in collaboration with Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Physical Planning.
He stressed that marking the international day enhances the efforts for conserving the soil, affirming that combating desertification is a vital issue.
The Presidential Aide called on scientists and experts to give concern to studies and research on preservation of the social and combating of drought and desertification besides building the capacities of the community to contribute to this field.
He called on the national, regional and international organizations to exert more efforts for preserving the soil and developing communities, lauding their contributions in this connection.
Minister of Environment, Natural Resources and Physical Planning Dr. Hassan Abdel-Gadir Hilal, on his part, called on the international community to fulfil its commitments to supporting the developing countries for combating the effects of climate change through provision of adequate funding, capacity building and technology transfer.
The Minister indicated that climatic changes phenomenon is one of the greatest problems facing the world for its direct impact on human development.
