New Round of Negotiations on GERD in Addis Ababa on May 5

Khartoum - Minister of Water Resources and Electricity Engineer Mutaz Musa announced a meeting to be held on May 5 in Addis Ababa in the presence of the ministers of

irrigation in the three countries, while another meeting will be held on the fifteenth of the same month in Addis Ababa with the participation of intelligence managers and ministers of foreign affairs and water resources of the three countries to discuss the issues of the dam.
Following his meeting with FVP, National Prime Minister, 1st Lt. General Bakri Hassan Saleh said that the meeting dealt with the negotiations on the said dam, noting that this file is moving forward, due to cooperation between the three countries.
Bakri briefed on the progress of work in the Ministry of Water Resources and Electricity and its preparations for the stability of electricity supply during the summer especially with the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.
 He also reviewed the electricity strategy for the next 12 years until 2030, focusing on the new and renewable energies and treatment of losses in the national network and upgrading the generating units to maximize the efficiency and increase the efficiency beside extension of the national network in the east and west.
Eng. Musa said that the meeting touched on the electrical connection with the neighboring countries, especially with Egypt, indicating that project of electric linkage between the two countries will be completed within four months
He added that the meeting dealt with the preparations for reform of the irrigation system in the major national agricultural projects.
