Faisal Receives EU Ambassador to Sudan

Khartoum - (SUNA) The Assistant of the President of the Republic, Dr. Faisal Hassan Ibrahim has affirmed the government's keenness to move forward in the peaceful negotiation with the hold out groups and its aspirations to reach sustainable peace in the Two Areas and Darfur.
Dr. Faisal who received, Sunday, at the Republican Palace, the EU Ambassador to Sudan, Jean-Michel Dumond, has welcomed the holding of the unofficial consultations between the government and the non- signatories of peace agreement which is scheduled to begin tomorrow, Monday, in Berlin.
The Director of the Foreign Ministry's European Department, Ambassador Khaled Musa said in press statements that Dr. Faisal has briefed the EU Ambassador on the government policies and the efforts being exerted to maintain peace and stability in Darfur, adding that Darfur became safe after the firearms collection campaigns.
He underlined that Dr. Faisal has, further, explained to the EU official the political process in the country besides, the implementation of the National Dialogue's outcome, noting that the elections will be held in its fixed time.
Ambassador Musa has underlined that the meeting also, discussed, Sudan-EU cooperation and the current developments in the country.
He said the EU Ambassador has briefed the Assistant of the President on the EU efforts to support the development process, specially, in Darfur, water harvest, refuges and food security issues.
Meanwhile, the EU diplomat said he reviewed with Dr. Faisal Sudan and EU cooperation, adding that peace and stability in Sudan and the region is a priority for this Dialogue.
The EU Ambassador has expressed hope that the dialogue between the government and the non-signatories of peace agreements will lead to a permanent cessation of hostilities in Sudan to achieve development.
