Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Church Due to Visit Khartoum

Khartoum  - (SMC) The Interreligious Council has announced an expected visit to Sudan by Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Church Hilarion in the coming period to get acquainted with the situations and religious coexistence in Sudan.
The Chairman of the Council, Dr. Farouq Al-Bushra, said in a statement to SMC that they have received a letter on the desire of the Russian bishop to visit Khartoum, explaining that visits by bishops to Sudan are considered as strong reply to accusations by others to Sudan concerning religious freedoms and other charges.
He indicated that preparations are underway to complete arrangements for the Russian Bishop’s visit.
Dr. Al-Bushra indicated that a great breakthrough would occur during the coming stage, affirming that they would reply to the unjust reports through the testimonies by the clergymen and bishops who visited Sudan and affirmed presence of religious tolerance in the country.
He disclosed formation of a mechanism for countering the accusations and listing views of the others on the false reports on Sudan.
