Siemens Resumes Operations in Sudan by Signing Electricity Contract

Khartoum - The German Siemens Company has resumed operations in Sudan by signing a contract with the Ministry of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity yesterday in Khartoum on maintenance and operation of Port Sudan and Garri III Electricity Stations, a move which is expected to add 850 megawatts to the national grid.
Minister of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity Mutaz Musa met with Member of the Managing Board of Siemens Ms. Janina Kugel, who expressed her pleasure over the company's resumption of its operations in Sudan in the field of energy and building of capacities of engineers and technicians.
The Minister, on his part, affirmed concern with expanding production of electricity and to serve all the citizens to raise their standard of living, realize food security and sustainable development. This is besides raising the capacities of the Sudanese cadres, affirming their confidence in the technology of Siemens Company.
