Khartoum - (SUNA) The Khartoum and Red Sea States have held a joint meeting to discuss the promotion of tourism work, implementation of the tourism renaissance plan in Sudan and the obstacles facing tourism.
The Wali (governor) of the Red Sea State Ali Ahmad Hamid said that tourism has become an industry, calling for collecting political, executive, legislative and popular efforts as well as the private sector to adopt policies and procedures that will assist the development of tourism work in the country.
The governor also presented the experience of the Red Sea State in tourism work and its involvement of the private sector in the international tourism exhibitions in Germany, Russia and China, referring to his government contracting with international expertise house for tourism promotion, inviting the state of Khartoum to participate in these international tourism exhibitions. He called on the federal government to allocate a budget for tourism, promotion, training of cadres and product upgrading.
For his part, the Khartoum Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism Mohamed Yousuf al-Degair, stressed the need to implement the recommendations of the tourism conference recently held by the five states of Khartoum, Red Sea, Sennar, River Nile and the North, adding that Khartoum State has tremendous tourism capabilities.
It was decided at the meeting to hold urgent meetings among the directors of tourism in the five states to develop a plan to promote the work of tourism and raise it for the meeting of tourism ministers and then to be submitted to the meeting of states' governor, which will be held in the Red Sea on the February 7.
